Nick & Danielle McKain
- McKain Quality Construction
When Nick started McKain Quality Construction in 2015, his goal was simple – help people build their dream homes and make it an enjoyable experience.
Today, that’s exactly what you’ll get when you work with us.
Over the years, we’ve handpicked skilled builders and support staff dedicated to designing and building a home you love.
Perhaps you like where you live, but the kitchen or bathroom needs improving. Or you could start from scratch and build from the ground up.
Whatever you need, we’ll work with you to find the best solution for your budget.

Nick, aka Noodles – Director
With over 18 years of experience, Nick has yet to find a construction problem he can’t solve. He’s worked on all kinds of construction projects, from dairy sheds and hi-spec houses to farm buildings and executive bathrooms.
Nick is also a big advocate for the next generation of builders. As a qualified Master Builder, he knows that by supporting and mentoring young builders, he can help shape the future of the industry. So far, we’ve trained three local apprentices through BCITO and participated in training programs such as Mates in Construction.

Kind Words
New to Ashburton, I was looking to use a local builder for a new ensuite and McKain Quality Construction was recommended to me. I’ve found Nick McKain and his team really easy to work with - open and honest, with a can-do attitude, and leaving the building site clean and tidy each day. I’m very pleased with my new ensuite would definitely use them again.

Budgeting
02
Once you’ve finalised your wish list, we’ll help you find a way to get the design, style and finishes you’re after while keeping the budget in check. It’s all about being creative and prioritising what’s most important.
Building and renovating your home should be fun – and as stress-free as possible. Here’s how we make sure that’s the experience you have.

When the final set of drawings is ready, that’s when we work out the precise build cost. We’ll also submit the working drawings to the council for consent.

Planning
04
Then, we work with your architect to figure out exactly how we will bring your vision to life. It’s where we make sure the final product will meet your expectations.
Refining
05
Alongside your architect, we fine-tune plans and details to ensure your new home fits within the parameters of your land, budget and building regulations.

Building
06
Once plans have been approved, we begin the build. We manage the project for you from start to finish. Nick will handle any plan changes or council requirements, checking in with you regularly so you know what’s going on. The buck stops with us – it’s our job to keep the build on track and on schedule.
Completion
07
This is our favourite part of the process – doing that final check and handing over the keys (along with any important paperwork you might need).
